Sound Heavy Machinery Appointed as Terex Rough Terrains Distributor

Terex Rough Terrain Cranes has the pleasure of welcoming Sound Heavy Machinery (SHM), based in Wilmington, NC, to its growing distributor network. SHM will represent the full line-up of Terex Rough Terrain Cranes, while also providing sales, service, and parts to customers across North and South Carolina.

SHM was founded in 2010 by Mark Bobo and has shown steady growth since then. Besides renting equipment and selling new and used parts, SHM has a vibrant service department that services all makes and models of equipment for both the field and its service shop.

“SHM is a well-known distributor in the Carolinas and mid-Atlantic region who has made great strides in growing its customer base and services, despite less-than-ideal market conditions the past few years,” said Andreas Ernst, General Manager Cranes Americas. ‘We are extremely excited about partnering with SHM because it is a full-service dealership with knowledgeable and skilled personnel.”

Terex Rough Terrain Cranes has a US product offering of four models ranging from 40 USt maximum lifting capacity with a main boom length of 99 ft., to 100USt maximum lifting capacity with a fully hydraulic boom stretching 154 ft. in length. The new TRT line, manufactured in Italy, also comes with the latest technology including full power boom, T-Link telematics and the new TEOS control system.

Mark Bobo, Owner of SHM said, ““We are extremely excited to represent Terex Rough Terrain Cranes because of their great reputation, specialized lift equipment, and compatibility with our current product portfolio,” said Bobo. “Our mission is to serve our customer base with a total package of new and used equipment, rentals, and service, so Terex Rough Terrain Cranes fill a unique market void for us. We believe these products will be an ideal complement to our other brands of light and heavy construction equipment in our territories.”

The agreement was signed by Mark Bobo and Andreas Ernst at the SHM offices in Wilmington, North Carolina. Coincidentally, the North American Cranes headquarters for Terex is also based in Wilmington.
