Diesel engines power most of the world’s off-road construction equipment. They also create exhaust emissions that contain some harmful pollutants. For example, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), are two known toxins that are found in diesel exhaust and are linked to a host of health problems including asthma and other chronic diseases.
Tier 4 Final and Stage IV regulations imposed by the EPA and European Union take us a long way down the road to cleaner air. In the coming years, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter will be pretty much eliminated from diesel emissions.
